Privacy Notice
This notice explains what information Their Why handles, how we use it, and the choices you have. In short: we do not store your birth details on our servers, and we never sell your information.
1. Information we handle
- Birth details you enter: your full name, birth date, birth time (optional), and birth city (optional).
- For compatibility readings, the same details for each person you add.
- Payment information: purchases are processed by Stripe. We do not collect or store your card number.
- Basic technical data: our hosting provider may log standard request data (such as IP address and timestamps) for security and reliability. We do not log your birth details.
2. How we use your information
- To calculate and generate your reading at the moment you request it.
- To find the coordinates of your birth city (for Moon, Rising, and Human Design).
- To process your payment and deliver the reading you purchased.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it.
3. What we do not keep
- We do not store your birth details in any database on our servers. They are used only to generate your reading, then discarded.
- By default, your inputs and reading are held only in your browser's temporary tab memory, so a refresh or tab switch doesn't lose them. This clears when you close the page.
- For a personal reading, you can opt in to “Keep my reading on this device.” That saves it in your own browser's local storage so it's waiting on your next visit — it stays on your device only, is never uploaded to us, and you can erase it anytime by ticking that option off, using the “Clear my information” button, or clearing your browser data.
- When you save a reading as a PDF, or create a shareable snapshot image, that file is generated in your browser on your device. We do not receive a copy.
4. Service providers
To generate a reading, limited information passes through trusted services in the moment of processing:
- Mapping/geocoding (Open-Meteo): receives only the birth city to look up coordinates.
- AI provider (Anthropic): receives the birth details and computed chart to write the reading, and does not use API data to train its models by default.
- Payments (Stripe): processes your payment and handles card details securely.
- Hosting (Vercel): runs the website and may keep basic request logs.
5. Cookies & local storage
We use your browser's storage on your own device: temporary “session” storage so a refresh doesn't lose your inputs, and — only if you opt in to “Keep my reading on this device” — longer-term local storage so your reading is waiting on your next visit. This all stays on your device and is never sent to us. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
6. Your choices
Use the “Clear my information” button to erase what's saved in your browser. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information. Because we don't keep your birth details on our servers, most data lives on your own device. For payment-related requests, contact us at michelle@hannfamily.com.
7. Children
This service is intended for adults. Readings about a child are meant to be entered and read by that child's parent or guardian.
8. Not professional advice
Readings are for reflection, self-insight, and entertainment. They do not predict the future and are not a substitute for professional medical, financial, legal, or mental-health advice.
